The Gold Award celebrates schools where children’s rights are not only taught, but are embedded and lived daily across school life. At St Joseph’s, pupils understand their rights and responsibilities and are empowered to respect the rights of others, both within our school community and beyond.
Throughout the journey to Gold, pupils have played a leading role – confidently discussing children’s rights, linking them to our Gospel values, and demonstrating how they make a positive difference through kindness, fairness and respect. From classroom learning and pupil voice initiatives to behaviour, wellbeing and decision‑making, children’s rights are a shared language across the school.
Staff, pupils, parents and governors have worked together to create a caring, inclusive environment where every child feels safe, valued and heard. Inspectors praised the strong ethos of respect at St Joseph’s and noted how effectively pupils can explain their rights and show empathy and understanding for others.
